Our Services
Inclusion! What does it mean?
McDonough County Special Recreation Association programs are designed for children and adults with all abilities, and their families who live in our member districts.
McDonough SRA provides you with INCLUSION services to participate in any Macomb park district program that requires registration to attend.
Inclusion provides OPPORTUNITIES of all abilities to participate TOGETHER. Inclusion looks at the NEEDS, INTERESTS & ABILITIES of all people instead of focusing on their disability.
Inclusion supports the process of PREPARING, LEARNING, EXPERIENCING, & GROWING with each person, family, and staff.
Inclusion provides a RECREATIONAL CHOICE!
Who can use inclusion services and how does that work?
Anyone can request INCLUSION services to participate in any program that require payment offered by their member park district agencies that support McDonough SRA. There are not Inclusion services offered for free or family events. MCSRA staff are trained to assess and evaluate the participant’s needs and make recommendations which can include providing adaptive equipment, Inclusion companions, interpreters, or program modifications.
To sign up for INCLUSION in your park district programs, simply let the staff taking your registration know that you need assistance and McDonough SRA will be notified of your request. You will be contacted within 48 hours of registration and an over the phone assessment for the Inclusion need will be conducted to determine the level of Inclusion need for the participant and program. Due to the different program details, the level of need will change per program and so each program will be assessed separately per it’s Inclusion level for the participant.
